The Internet of Toys: ESP8266 and MicroPython

The ESP8266 is a tiny, incredibly cheap system-on-a-chip with powerful WiFi capabilities. MicroPython is a powerful but beginner-friendly programming language which has recently been ported to run on the ESP8266. We’ll get hands on with these new technologies and see just how easy it is to get started. We’ll look at programming techniques for robotics and sensor network applications and how to get connected to the Internet of Things.

A limited number of ESP8266 boards will be available on the day. No prior experience necessary, but bring your laptop, ideas and lots of enthusiasm!

This session will then segue into the hands-on Internet of Tents workshop where we can really get stuck in and build some amazing toys!
