Start 3D-Printing with Blender

3d Printing is everywhere, you might even have a 3d printer, you might have made some things! (Which is awesome by the way.) Whether you’re building robot’s, making cupholders or simply printing models from sites like thingyverse.com – 3d printing is a whole heap of fun. One of the challenges of 3d printing is making or editing the models, there are many tools available and all of them have a steep learning curve. Blender is an excellent tool for bespoke (or hand-built) models, its open source and it has a massive community of people behind it. This workshop will be in two parts:

  1. Using blender and 3d printing tips and tricks- this is where Adam will share some of the tricks that he’s found along the way that make the production of reasonably complicated models much easier. We’ll start by going through the tool panes of the most commonly used sections of blender with regards to 3d printing and then move onto using the 3d printing toolbox to prepare your models for the printer.
  2. Make something! – this is where you get to make a model for printing.

What you will need:

  1. A laptop with blender installed https://www.blender.org/download/
  2. An idea to make – keep it simple!
